Tigers rookie Brennan Boesch has quietly become a major 2010 fantasy baseball star. Dig into his roto rise in more of week 12's player news and analysis.

47 year-old pitching wonder Jamie Moyer won his 266th career game on Tuesday, tying Bob Feller and Eppa Rixey for 35th place on MLB’s all-time list.

But first up in the latest week 12 fantasy baseball news is a low buzz rookie slugger and 2010 roto sensation, Brennan Boesch.

Brennan Boesch, Detroit Tigers- Rookie Blasts 11th HR

Though the 2010 phenom rookies are in the NL, former 2006 third round pick Brennan Boesch remains the top early season fantasy hitter pickup in either league. After Tuesday’s monster HR to the deepest part of Citi Field, Boesch is up to 11 HRs and 39 RBIs in just 48 games. Oh, he’s also hitting .343.

Forecast- Power is real. Scouts may quibble about his long, “mechanical” lefty swing, but the ball explodes off Boesch’s bat. Hitting behind the re-energized Magglio Ordonez and AL MVP leader Miguel Cabrera, Boesch constantly hits with guys on base. A high strikeout rate (37 Ks in 48 games) will push down gaudy average, but big year rolls on.

Coco Crisp, Kansas City Royals- Home Run in Return from DL

Welcome back Coco Crisp. A broken left pinkie finger, followed by a strained rib muscle knocked out Crisp for all but 2 games in 2010. He returned on Tuesday, hit leadoff, and homered in a loss to the Reds. Rajai Davis and his MLB second best 26 SBs sat in the suddenly crowded A’s outfield.

Forecast- Coco a no-no for mixed roto leagues. Crisp is 30 years-old and hasn’t stayed mostly healthy since 2007 season with Red Sox. He’s a .270ish hitter with no power. He’s a good base stealer, but don’t bank on a ton of SBs with his injury track record.

For now, Rajai Davis takes a solid fantasy hit as he’ll get less regular PT due to Conor Jackson arrival.

Rickie Weeks, Milwaukee Brewers- 11Home Runs, Healthy

On the plus fantasy side, last May’s season-ending wrist surgery has not sapped Weeks’ HR power. Hitting mostly lead-off, he’s up to 11 HRs with an impressive 38 RBIs and 44 runs scored. The oft-injured Weeks has stayed healthy and is on pace to blow by 2007’s career best 16 HRs.

Forecast- Weaker. On the down side, Weeks is hitting .253, with just 4 SBs in 7 attempts. The still free swinger has a poor 2.4 K/BB ratio and is 3rd in the NL with 83 Ks. Now is a great time to talk trade with one of the Weeks fans in your league. His average should creep lower and the SBs look few and far between in 2010.

Jamie Moyer, Philadelphia Phillies- 8 Wins for Ageless Lefty

Hear that? It’s the Jamie Moyer mixed fantasy league activation club stepping up their marketing campaign. On Tuesday, Moyer followed up his mastery over the Yanks in New York with a 1 run, 8 inning gem against Cleveland and left to a standing ovation from the Philly home crowd. Aside from the June 11th meltdown in Boston, he’s allowed 6 measly runs in his last 31 innings with a .68 WHIP.

Forecast- Minimal magic left. Mixed league fantasy owners desperate for a strong SP must remain Moyer non-believers. He’ll pass Robin Roberts and then some as the all-time leader in HRs allowed in next start at the home run happy Blue Jays.
